Interview: Coach Odom

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Football practiced in perfect conditions Friday morning (Aug. 22), just eight days away from the opener vs. Ball State.

Head coach Barry Odom took the final media availability the week, crediting his coaching staff and the work ethic of Purdue's roster.

“The assistant coaches have done a very good job executing the plan,” said Odom. “Every player has also shown the desire to get better and have the work ethic that it takes to get through some of these practices. They’ve been hungry for more.”

A main topic of conversation during media availability was Odom's decision to announce Ryan Browne as Purdue's starting quarterback on Thursday (Aug. 22). Although that decision was made for the opener, Odom continues to praise the quarterback room as a whole. 

“The quarterback room, all five guys, made progress from where they started to where we are today,” said Odom. “It was, and still is, a very tight room with competition. Ryan has the edge going in here, and we’re comfortable and excited for him.”

With fall camp wrapping up, Purdue sets its sights on the first game week of the season.
