Fall Camp Report - August 20

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Football took practice back outside on Wednesday (Aug. 20) and hit the 10-day mark until the season-opener vs. Ball State. 

Purdue's defensive ends group, led by Jake Trump who was named to 247Sports' 30under30 list for 2025 on Aug. 18, has strong competition throughout the depth chart. 

“I’m proud of all of my guys’ development throughout camp,” said Trump. “We have standards, and if you uphold the standard you can play. I hope I can play everyone in my room… Who starts the game doesn’t necessarily mean who will end the game.”

Breeon Ishmail, who spent two seasons at Michigan, joined the Boilers in the spring and is ready to start a new era in West Lafayette.

“It's about showing that Purdue can change the culture around,” said Ishmail. “Telling them (the fans) that we still have a chance… Keep working every day and the hard work will pay off.”

CJ Nunnally IV was one of Purdue's most productive additions from the transfer portal after back-to-back First Team All-MAC campaigns that featured 26.5 tackles-for-loss and 13 sacks. He started his career at FCS Jackson State before attending Independence Community Colllege and comes to Purdue with a chip on his shoulders.

“I’ve always been told that I’d never be a Big Ten player,” said Nunnally. “My job was always to prove myself right, not everyone else wrong. That was my goal this whole time and I’m blessed to be here.”

Purdue now turns to its Thursday (Aug. 21) practice that will mark single-digit days until the season starts.
