WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Athletics produced a department-record 106 Academic All-Big Ten honorees from the spring sports season, finishing the 2024-25 school year with its third-best total in the history of the academic honor.
For the school year, 247 Boilermakers were recognized as Academic All-Big Ten for their cumulative 3.0-plus grade point average. Along with the record 106 spring honorees, 69 student-athletes were recognized in the fall and 72 in the winter.
Purdue Athletics' previous spring record was 92 during the 2020-21 school year. The department record for any sports season is 107 in the fall of 2021. This spring is believed to be only the second time Purdue has hit the century mark for a season.

The spring season has been very consistent this decade, producing 80-plus honorees for the sixth straight year.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten, student-athletes must be enrolled full-time at their university for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Big Ten Distinguished Scholar recognition is based on a 3.7-plus yearly or cumulative GPA, also for sophomores and above. Those honorees will be announced later this summer.
Track & Field led the way with a combined 40 Academic All-Big Ten honorees this spring – 20 from both rosters. Baseball contributed a program-record 28 academic achievers with 3.0-plus GPAs. Golf produced 15 (eight women, seven men), Softball 13, and Tennis 10 (five from both rosters).
Twenty-seven of the 106 Academic All-Big Ten honorees from the spring earned the distinction for at least the third time. Among that group, pitcher Avery Cook is now the rare five-time honoree. Track & Field accounted for 15 of the 27, including 10 from the men's team. Four-year honorees included Alex Frey, Caleb Williams, Caroline Jordan and Payne Turney from Track & Field as well as golfer Jocelyn Bruch.
Altogether, 49 of the 106 Boilermakers (46%) recognized this month are now multi-year Academic All-Big Ten honorees. Purdue also had 57 first-time honorees from the spring season. Women's Tennis had four of its five honorees recognized for at least the second time. Eleven of the 15 golfers were also on the list again as multi-year honorees.
The Big Ten also spotlights student-athletes with a 4.0 cumulative GPA as an undergraduate or graduate student. Purdue had five honorees on that list – Brandon Anderson, Albert Choi and Aaron Manias from Baseball; Lana Malek from Women's Golf; and Paige Hazelrigg from Women's Track & Field.
For Track & Field, Academic All-Big Ten honorees Cameron Miller and Jalen Elrod were both NCAA Championships qualifiers during the indoor and outdoor seasons. Praise Aniamaka and Brett Otterbacher joined them at the indoor national championship meet and are also Academic All-Big Ten honorees.
Both Purdue Golf teams were NCAA Championships qualifiers again this year. The Academic All-Big Ten honorees that competed at nationals included Jocelyn Bruch, Natasha Kiel, Momo Sugiyama, Sam Easterbrook and Nels Surtani.
The Big Ten Conference recognized a total of 2,824 student-athletes as Academic All-Big Ten honorees for the spring and at-large sports season. That total includes 832 from track & field, 256 from baseball, 194 from softball, 173 from golf, 171 from tennis, and 1,198 from the sports that Purdue does not sponsor.
