Oct. 16 Update: Due to an unforeseen availability issue for the BTN Student U staff, free webcasts will NOT be available for the weekend of Oct. 16 to 17. We thank the Student U group for their coverage of Fall Ball at Alexander this year.
Facebook Update: Batting practice sessions will be streamed live on the Baseball page and the intrasquad scrimmages will be streamed live on the Purdue Athletics page.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Free multi-camera webcasts of Purdue baseball's fall ball scrimmages at Alexander Field will be made available on Facebook and YouTube.
The first webcast of a situational team scrimmage will be available Friday, Sept. 25. The live stream begins with the 3 p.m. ET batting practice session. Dates and times for future live-streamed scrimmages will be announced in the coming days and posted here at PurdueSports.com. The plan is to stream as many Friday and Saturday scrimmages as possible, including the Saturday, Sept. 26 session. Fall ball practice runs through late October.
The free video streams will be available live and on-demand at YouTube.com/PurdueSports. Fans can also watch live or on-demand at Facebook.com/PurdueBaseball (batting practice) and Facebook.com/PurdueSports (scrimmage).
Fall scrimmages at Alexander Field remain closed to the public due to regulations related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Purdue's BTN Student U staff will help produce the webcasts under the guidance of athletics department video staffers Cory Palm and Hunter Massingill. The Student U staff is enrolled in the film and video studies 491 live television production course and producing the scrimmages allows those students to get the on-site experience at sporting events required for the class.
The BTN Student U staff also produces most of the webcasts for sports like baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, wrestling and women's basketball. Those webcasts are offered as a pay-per-view product on the BTN+ app and accompanying website. When sports resume their competition seasons later this school year, webcasts will remain on the BTN+ app.
