WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The 2024 NFL season is officially past the halfway point after the conclusion of Week 9. Five Boilermakers saw playing time around the league.
George Karlaftis maintained his hot streak with the Kansas City Chiefs and recorded a sack in a third consecutive game. Also known by the moniker "Furious George", he bothered Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield all night and finished with four tackles, three solos.
Karlaftis went up against his former Boilermaker teammate, Payne Durham, in the Monday Night Football thriller that saw the Chiefs emerge victorious in overtime. Following the game, the two met at midfield for a jersey swap.
Raheem Mostert, a Boilermaker star from 2011-14, had his most efficient game of the season after returning from injury a month ago. He finished with 10 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown against the Buffalo Bills, good for 5.6 yards per carry.
After exiting last week's game with concussion symptoms, Tyrone Tracy Jr. bounced back to once again lead the New York Giants on the ground. He rushed 16 times for 66 yards and added one reception for three yards against the Washington Commanders.
Sanoussi Kane added another special teams tackle while playing 18 special teams snaps and seven defensive snaps against the Denver Broncos.
Active Pro Boilers went 2-3 in Week 9. Purdue alumni are a combined 34-28 this season.
