Austin Winfree joined Purdue Football in 2023 as an associate director of strength and conditioning.
Winfree arrived in West Lafayette after spending a pair of seasons with Kiero Small at Michigan. During his time with the Wolverines, Winfree trained 14 NFL Draft picks, including three first round selections. Michigan also won the Big Ten Championship and advanced to the College Football Playoff during each of his two seasons in Ann Arbor.
Prior to entering the Big Ten, Winfree served as a graduate assistant at Southern Mississippi for one season and earned a master’s of kinesiology degree with a focus on exercise science.
Before his time at Southern Miss, Winfree began his career as a strength and conditioning assistant at Marshall. He worked with the Thundering Herd for three years (2017-19).
Winfree was a quarterback at the University of Memphis before starting his coaching career at Tennessee under longtime NFL strength coach Rock Gullickson.
