Boilermakers Unveil 2026-27 Non-Conference Slate

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women’s basketball team has unveiled its non-conference slate for the 2026-27 season, featuring nine home contests, two at a neutral site and one on the road.

Head coach Katie Gearlds enters her sixth season at the helm of her alma mater. Purdue returns upperclassmen Taylor Henderson, Saige Stahl and McKenna Layden, as well as sophomore Avery Gordon from the 2025-26 roster.

Purdue’s roster will feature 10 newcomers after dipping into the portal to welcome in guards Hannah Wickstrom, Kyndall Hunter, Jelena Bulajić, Aysia Proctor and forwards Averi Aaron and Anjela Minja. The all-international freshman class features Katka Šedivá from Slovakia, Keona Douwstra from the Netherlands, Zoja Stirn from Slovenia and Maya Zilbershlag from Israel.

The season tips off Nov. 2 against IU Indy to open a four-game homestand against Eastern Michigan (Nov. 5), Southeast Missouri State (Nov. 10) and Samford (Nov. 15).

Following games against Florida State (Nov. 19) and Texas Tech (Nov. 21) at the WBCA Showcase at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla., the Boilermakers will take on Murray State (Nov. 25) and UT Martin (Nov. 29) at Mackey Arena before the Big Ten opener in early December.

The final four games of the non-conference slate start with a two home contests against Central Michigan on Dec. 10 and Eastern Illinois on Dec. 13 before hitting the road for the first time to play Dayton on Dec. 19 and wrapping up against Western Michigan on Dec. 22 at Mackey Arena.

Purdue will face UIC in the lone exhibition before the season on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Mackey Arena. 

Matchup Notes

IU Indy6-1

Purdue leads the all-time series with IU Indy 6-1. The Boilermakers knocked off the Jaguars 83-64 in 2024-25.

Eastern Michigan3-0

The Boilermakers are a perfect 3-0 against Eastern Michigan. The two clubs last squared off in 2016-17 with a 77-50 Purdue win.

SEMO2-0

Purdue won both its matchups with SEMO, last meeting in 2023-24 for an 83-57 Boilermaker win.

Samford0-0

Purdue and Samford have never met.

Florida State1-3

The Boilermakers will meet Florida State for the third time since 2021-22, splitting the two previous contests. Purdue picked up the first win of the Katie Gearlds era with a 66-61 win over the No. 17 Seminoles in 2021 at the St. Pete Showcase, overcoming a 27-point run by Florida State led by Cassidy Hardin's 18 points on six 3-pointers. 

Texas Tech2-0

Purdue is 2-0 all-time against Texas Tech. The two sides first met in the 2001 NCAA Mideast Regional semifinals when Katie Douglas sank a runner with 30 seconds to play to lift the Boilermakers to a 74-72 win in Birmingham, Ala. 

Murray State2-0

The Boilermakers are 2-0 all-time against Murray State. Purdue downed the Racers 90-61 in their last matchup during the 2022-23 season.

UT Martin3-0

The Boilermakers are a perfect 3-0 against the Skyhawks. The two clubs last met in December of 2017 with a 60-58 Purdue win that featured a 20-point, 13-rebounds, five-block performance from sophomore Ae'Rianna Harris. 

Central Michigan6-5

The Boilermakers are 6-5 against Central Michigan, including four straight wins at Mackey Arena since 1988.

Eastern Illinois7-3

Purdue holds a 7-3 record after knocking off the Panthers 82-67 last season.

Dayton8-6

Dayton leads the series 8-6. Purdue won the last contest in the 2023-24 season, 67-59.

Western Michigan7-0

Purdue is a perfect 7-0 over Western Michigan. The two sides last met in 2021-22 for Katie Gearlds’ home opener, a 70-62 win.
