BAYONNE, N.J. – The Purdue men’s golf team shined in round two at the New York Harbor Cup, sitting in second place after 36 holes at the world-renowned Bayonne Golf Club.
The Boilermakers totaled a 36-hole score of 21-under par 547 (277-270) to trail Kansas by one shot entering Tuesday’s final round. Little Rock is in third at 17-under par.
Purdue’s second-round score of 270 is tied for the eighth-lowest round in Purdue history. Purdue recorded a whopping 25 birdies in round two and leads the nine-team field with 44 birdies through two rounds.
Senior Jenson Forrester is tied for the lead at 9-under par 133 after rounds of 69 and 64. His 64 was a career-best round and tied for fifth-lowest round in Purdue history.
Freshman Micah Sheffer is in third place just one shot off the pace at 8-under par 134 (68-66). Sheffer’s 66 is tied for the sixth-best round by a freshman in Purdue history.
Will Harvey and Supapon Amornchaichan are tied for 12th at 2-under par 140, while Andre Zhu is tied for 34th at 4-over par 146.
