  • 8-ranked and second-seeded Purdue’s season ended in a 79-64 setback to No. 2-ranked and top-seeded Arizona in the West Region final.
  • The Boilermakers end the year with a 30-9 record and saw a seven-game winning streak end on Saturday. The 30 wins marked the third 30-win season in school history.
  • Purdue dropped to 0-10 all-time in NCAA Tournament games against the No. 1 seed.
  • Purdue lost for the first time at a neutral site this season, falling to 10-1 in neutral-site games. Purdue finished the year 18-4 away from Mackey Arena.
  • Purdue lost games this season to teams ranked No. 6 (Iowa State), No. 13 (Illinois), No. 1 (Michigan), No. 11 (Michigan State), No. 19 (Wisconsin) and No. 2 (Arizona) in the AP top 25 released before the NCAA Tournament.   • The Purdue senior class finished their careers with a 117-32 career record, setting the school record for most wins by a senior class. The group won four of a possible eight Big Ten Championships (two regular season, two tournament), reached the 2024 National Championship game and a pair of Sweet 16s, posting a 10-4 NCAA Tournament record.
  • Purdue’s three Elite Eight appearances in the last seven tournaments are tied for the second most in the country behind Duke’s five (Duke – 5; Purdue, Gonzaga, Tennessee, Houston, UConn – 3).
  • Purdue set an NCAA single-season record with a 2.19 assist-to-turnover ratio (764 assists / 349 turnovers).
  • Purdue’s 359, 3-pointers were the second most in a season in school history.
  • Braden Smith scored 13 points with seven assists and five rebounds, ending his career with 1,932 points (8th in Purdue history), 1,103 assists (1st in NCAA history), 673 rebounds (17th in Purdue history) and 249 steals (3rd in Purdue history). He is the only player in NCAA history to have at least 1,500 points, 1,000 assists and 500 rebounds.
  • Smith set the NCAA record for most minutes played in a four-year career, totaling 5,067 minutes in 149 career games, passing Lionel Simmons of La Salle (5,045; 1987-90).
  • Smith finished the season with 345 assists, the fifth-most in a season in NCAA history. There have been five seasons of a player with at least 500 points, 300 assists and 125 rebounds. Smith had two of them.
  • Fletcher Loyer finished his career with 1,829 points, good for 11th on the Purdue career scoring list. He finished his career with a school-record 309, 3-pointers.
  • Loyer finished the year with 112, 3-pointers, the second most in a season in Purdue history.
  • Trey Kaufman-Renn had 10 points to finish his career with 1,655 points, good for 19th place on the school’s career scoring list. He totaled 762 rebounds, good for 11th place on the school’s career rebounding list.

SAN JOSE - The NCAA Tournament run by Purdue Men’s Basketball has been halted just short of a return trip to the Final Four. The Boilermakers, led by four-year seniors Trey Kaufman-Renn, Fletcher Loyer and Braden Smith, were turned away in Elite Eight action on Saturday night vs. No. 1-seeded Arizona, falling by a score of 79-64 at the SAP Center.

Purdue finishes the 2025-26 season with a 30-9 overall record - the second-most wins ever by a Boiler team.

The senior class set the school record for wins in a four-year span on Thursday (March 26), winning its 117th career game (117-31) with the Sweet 16 win over Texas. The 117 wins are third most in Big Ten history by a senior class (2013 Ohio State - 123; 2014 Ohio State - 119).

Head coach Matt Painter’s squad was led in scoring in the setback by the Boilers’ newest senior, transfer Oscar Cluff, who battled for 14 points and 10 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. Smith followed with 13 points and seven assists.
