The Boilermakers nearly pulled off a record-breaking comeback at home on Thursday night against No. 13 Iowa, before falling 83-74. Down by as many as 26 points in the second, Purdue trimmed the deficit to single digits before time expired. Nya Smith powered Purdue with a team-high 19 points.
Purdue outscored the visitors 60-54 over the final 30 minutes. Purdue shot 41.5% from the floor and went 7-of-22 in the final three quarters.

• Against the Hawkeyes, the Boilermakers trotted out their 10th different starting lineup of the seasons, the most by a Purdue squad in more than 15 years.
• Nya Smith continues to step up in league play sitting third on the team with 9.5 points per game and second with 23 triples. All six of her double-digit outings have come in Big Ten play.
• Smith has been a major factor in Purdue's Big Ten wins, averaging 13 points per game at a 53.1% shooting clip in the Boilermakers' four conference victories.
• In their league wins, Purdue has shot 46.3% from the field and 43.2% from behind the arc with 10.3 3-pointers per night. In conference losses, the Boilermakers are shooting 38% from the floor, 27% from distance with six triples per game.
• Kiki Smith has picked up her output on the offensive end in the last five games, reaching double figures in four of them. Smith has averaged a team-best 15 points per game, while shooting 43.2% from the field and 93.3% (14-15) at the line in that span.
• Kendall Puryear notched her seventh game in double figures against Iowa with 12 points on an efficient 6-of-7 shooting. Puryear is shooting 77.4% across her double-digit performances this season.
• Avery Gordon became the first Purdue freshman since Ava Learn during the 2021-22 season to block three shots in a game. The 6-foot-7 rookie has posted four games in double figures over her last nine contests, including a career-high 20 points against Michigan State in her first start.
