OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – The Purdue men’s golf team shot a 3-over par 283 to finish the second round in 13th place at the Fighting Illini / Olympia Fields Invitational held at Olympia Fields Country Club in suburban Chicago.
Florida surged to the lead after shooting a 13-under par 267 to lead the field after 36 holes at 11-under par 549, seven shots ahead of Texas Tech and 10 ahead of defending National Champion Oklahoma State.
Meanwhile, Purdue sits in 13th place, the same spot after day one, with a two-round total of 15-over par 575 (292-283). The Boilermakers are just six shots behind seventh-place Texas, five shots behind Alabama and four shots behind four teams in ninth place at 11-over par (Loyola Marymount, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M).
Sam Easterbrook leads the Boilermakers at 1-over par 141 (70-71), good for 23rd place after 36 holes.
Sophomore Supapon Amornchaichan is tied for 29th at 2-over par 142 (73-69). It marks the 19th straight round of 75 or better for Amornchaichan dating to last season.
Kentaro Nanayama moved up 27 spots into 45th place with a stellar round of 2-under par 68 for a two-round total of 5-over par 145 (77-68).
Andre Zhu and Will Harvey are tied for 68th at 10-over par 150.
Playing as an individual, Jenson Forrester is tied for 60th at 7-over par 147.
Purdue will be paired with Indiana and Baylor in the final round, teeing off at 9:30 a.m. ET.
