BARK RIVER, Mich. – The Purdue men’s golf turned it on in round two and sits in second place after 36 holes at the Island Resort Intercollegiate, held at Sage Run Golf Club in Bark River, Michigan.

The Boilermakers fired a two-round total of 35-under par 541 on rounds of 277 and 264. The 264 is the lowest 18-hole team score in Purdue history, bettering the mark of 266 set almost 10 years ago at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate in October of 2015.

However, even with the record-breaking round, the Boilermakers must rally if they hope to win the first tournament of the year. Purdue trails West Virginia by five shots after the Mountaineers totaled a 40-under par 536 (266-270). Saint Mary’s is in third place, 10 shots behind Purdue at 25-under par 551.

Purdue’s five players all shot 70 or better in round two and the Boilermakers recorded 31 birdies against just five bogeys in the second round.

For the two rounds, Purdue managed 53 birdies against just 16 bogeys and no holes of double-bogey or worse.

Leading the charge were a pair of freshmen.

Redshirt freshman Andre Zhu, a transfer from South Carolina, is tied for second at 11-under par 133 (68-65). Zhu played the two rounds with just one bogey and had 12 birdies in 36 holes, including seven birdies with no bogeys in the second round. His second-round 65 is tied for the 11th-lowest round in Purdue history and is now the second-best round by a freshman in school history.

Zhu’s round is the second-lowest by a freshman, because Will Harvey bested him by one shot in the second round. Harvey, a freshman from Westfield, Indiana, and the 2025 Indiana state champion, is in fifth place at 10-under par 134 (70-64). After a slow start with two bogeys in his first three holes, Harvey recorded 12 birdies in his final 28 holes with no holes above par.

His 64 is tied for the fourth-lowest round in Purdue history and the lowest by a freshman.

Sam Easterbrook is in the hunt for another top-10 finish, sitting in ninth at 7-under par 137 (71-66). Easterbrook started round two with a flurry, posting birdies on four of his first five holes.

Kentaro Nanayama (69-70) and Supapon Amornchaichan (70-69) are tied for 16th at 5-under par 139.
