WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Sophomore Sam Easterbrook totaled a 7-under par 137 to help Purdue to a top-three showing through two rounds at the Purdue Fall Invite held at the Kampen-Cosler Course.
The final round will begin Monday at 9:30 a.m. ET, on the Kampen-Cosler Course.
Easterbrook played nearly flawless golf in the first two rounds, posting seven birdies, an eagle, two bogeys and 26 pars on his day. He leads Miami, Ohio's Michael Weber by one shot and Illinois State's Alex McCulla by four shots. Just 14 players shot under par on a wet, humid day in West Lafayette.
The Boilermakers totaled a 5-over par 581 (296-285) to sit in third place after 36 holes, 16 shots behind leader Indiana and 14 shots behind Miami, Ohio. Illinois State is fourth at 6-over par 582, while three schools (Marquette, Iowa, Wisconsin) are tied for fifth at 8-over par 584.
Nels Surtani is tied for 28th at 3-over par 47 (72-75), while freshman Supapon Amorchaichan is tied for 39th at 6-over par 150 (79-71). Kent Hsiao is tied for 45th at 7-over par 151 (76-75), while Kentaro Nanayama is tied for 54th at 8-over par 152 (81-71).
In an individual tournament played at Ackerman-Allen Golf Course, Jenson Forrester is third at 3-under par 139 (72-67), while Luke Prall is tied for ninth at 2-over par 144 (78-66). Yilin Sun is tied for 16th at 5-over par 147 (76-71). Andrew White is tied for 30th at 10-over par 152 (78-74) and Sam Maylee is 33rd at 13-over par 155 (74-81).
