CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – In the team's fourth shutout of the season, the Purdue softball squad (9-6) downed James Madison (8-4), 4-0.

Earning the victory was fifth year pitcher Alex Echazarreta (2-5), who secured her second complete-game shutout of the season. The righty forced six strikeouts in the effort, second most in a single game this season (season-high: 11 at NC State, 2/18).

The sophomore infielder duo of Tyrina Jones and Olivia McFadden scored in the game, posting a pair of runs each in the second and fifth innings. Not only was it McFadden's first run of the season, but the fourth homer of the year for shortstop Jones.

The Boilermakers out-hit the Dukes 9-2 in the win, and went perfect defensively once again while forcing two JMU errors.

The Boilermakers will be back in action at 3 p.m. ET to face the North Carolina Tar Heels.
