Purdue opened the season with a 73-61 win over Marshall on Thursday night. The Boilermakers jumped out to a 25-11 lead after the first quarter, leading the entire ball game. Caitlyn Harper led the way offensively with 17 points, followed by Jayla Smith's career-high 16 points. Purdue held the Thundering Herd to just eight points in the fourth quarter.

• Senior Jeanae Terry tallied 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Marshall, the first non-point double-double in program history and fifth in the Big Ten since 2009.

• The Boilermakers improved to 13-1 under head coach Katie Gearlds when scoring 70 points or more, while moving to 15-5 when holding opponents to 70 points or fewer. Purdue held Marshall to just eight points in the fourth quarter.
