WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Purdue women's basketball team will make its return to the postseason for the first time since 2018 on Wednesday night for a WNIT First Round matchup against Southern Illinois. Tipoff from Mackey Arena is set for 7 p.m. on B1G+

The Boilermakers make their 30th postseason appearance and fourth foray into the WNIT. Purdue's first postseason tournament came in 1988 when the Boilermakers reached the championship game of the NWIT. The other two WNIT bids came in 2010 and 2018. By accepting a spot into the 2022 field, Purdue kept alive its streak of every senior class since 1988 playing in at least one postseason tournament.

• Purdue and Southern Illinois evenly split 10 previous matchups. The two sides have only played twice this century.
• Purdue has a record of 5-3 in the WNIT/NWIT, including a runner-up finish in the 1988 tournament.
Jeanae Terry has made her mark in her first season in West Lafayette, climbing up to third in single-season history in assists (173). She is also tied for fourth in the nation with 14 games of at least five points, five assists and five rebounds this season (Caitlin Clark - 21).
• Purdue has already smashed the single-season record for 3-pointers made and attempted this season with 230 makes on 709 attempts.
Cassidy Hardin vaulted herself up to fourth in Purdue single-season history with 76 triples (Katie Gearlds in 2006-07, McLaughlin in 2018-19 - 88).
• After a combined 4.1 points in the first 17 games, Jayla Smith and Ava Learn have combined for 12 points per game over the final 13 games.
• On the current roster, only Brooke Moore and Rokia Doumbia have postseason experience - Moore with Auburn in the 2019 NCAA Tournament and Doumbia in the WNIT with Arkansas in 2019.
• With a win, the Boilermakers will have 10 more wins than last year, tying for the third best improvement in program history.
