MADIERA BEACH, Fla. – The Purdue softball team (8-13) returns to the Sunshine State for the final two weekends of non-conference play, beginning its nine-day spring break trip with The Spring Games at R.O.C. Park.
The Boilermakers are set to face six opponents in three days, featuring Lafayette College, Toledo, Western Michigan, Niagara, Bucknell and Siena. The doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday will take place at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. ET each day, while Sunday's games are slated for 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. ET.
All games will be streamed online by FloSoftball ($).

MADIERA BEACH, Fla. – The Purdue softball team (8-13) returns to the Sunshine State for the final two weekends of non-conference play, beginning its nine-day spring break trip with The Spring Games at R.O.C. Park.
The Boilermakers are set to face six opponents in three days, featuring Lafayette College, Toledo, Western Michigan, Niagara, Bucknell and Siena. The doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday will take place at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. ET each day, while Sunday's games are slated for 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. ET.
All games will be streamed online by FloSoftball ($).
Boilermakers to Watch
- #15 Rachel Becker continues her reign as the Boilermakers' lead hitter as she is posting a team-high (.310) batting average as well as a team-high .467 OB%, she is posting the second best SLG% with a .448 in these games she has posted two doubles and two home runs. Meanwhile, Becker owns the least amount of strikeouts (5) by a player who has played in all 21 games.
- #9 Freshman second baseman Jade Moy has started in all 21 games so far, which only one other freshman has done (#27 Olivia McFadden). She is third on the team in batting average at (.281), OB% (.395) while posting a .438 slugging %. Moy is also tied with Becker with the most hits on the team (18) while leading the team in doubles (three).
- #21 Alex Echazarreta has made great strides since last year, as she is second on the team in batting avg. (.304) after posting a .195 in 2021. Meanwhile, Echazarreta is leading the team in SLG% with a .478 and a second in OB% (.396). She is also three hits away from tying her total hits from last year.
- #22 Rylee Platusic has played in all 21 games so far, surpassing her 15 total in 2021 as she battled injury. Platusic has given the Boilers great offensive power, leading the team in RBI (10), as well as two doubles, a pair of homers, and the team's lone triple this year. As she is posting a solid SLG% of .410.
- Echazarreta's pitching has also made great strides this year in the pitching side of the games. She is posting the team's best record at 3-1, ERA (2.03), and strikeouts (44). She has more than doubled her 2021 strikeout total already of 21.
- But the pitcher you may see the most this weekend #40 Brenna Smith as she leads the team in innings pitched with 32.2 innings
- #15 Grace Harvey lead the Leopards in doubles with (3) and also has the highest slugging percentage at (.458), she and #21 Erica Brasher both are batting a (.333) average this season so far
- #14 Kinzi Van Wyk is the Leopard's best pitcher as she is posting an ERA of (0.28) and has (17) strikeouts in (25.0) innings pitched
- #24 Jacqueline Cal is the Leopard's next best pitcher as she is posting an ERA of (2.68) with (5) strikeouts in (15.2) innings pitched
- Last weekend the Leopands went 1-3 in a series against George Mason (6-6) where the Leopards scored (15) runs and gave up (20) runs
- The Bison have only scored (19) runs this year so far and have given up (81) runs
- #19 Nicole Rivait is the Bison's best batter as she has the team's highest batting average at (.361) and has a slugging percentage of (.472) as well as an OB% of (.410) with (4) doubles and (2) RBIs
- #15 Chase Knapp only has a hitting percentage of (.263) but she has the highest slugging percentage at (.474) where she has the (2) only home runs hit this year and leads the team with (5) RBIs but has the highest strikeout count with (11)
- #9 Kaiya Burton has the team's lowest ERA with a (2.58) in (19.0) innings pitched and she has the second more strikeouts of the team with (12)
- #22 Kelly Toomey is another pitcher to keep an eye on as she does have an ERA of (4.32) but she leads the team with 28 strikeouts and has the most innings pitched at (34.0) innings
- Last weekend the Broncos went 1-3 with scoring (6) runs and gave up (27) runs
- #6 Cassidy Brendtke is the Broncos' best batter as she is leading the team in batting average (.385), hits (15), Doubles (3), RBIs (6), SLG% (.462), and OB% (.415)
- #24 Reily Galloway is a pitcher to keep your eye on as she is posing the ERA (2.54) and has the most innings pitched (41.1) and has the most strikeouts (50)
- Have not played a games this year this coming Spring Games will be their first games of the season
- #11 Riley Crum last year had the most strikeouts last year with (54) and had the most innings pitched (99.1)
- #29 Heather Haberman last year was the Purple Eagle's best batter as she had the highest batting average (.371) and SLG% (.567), lead the team in doubles (7) home runs (4) RBIs (22) and had a respectable OB% at .415
- #8 Dayna Denner is a batter to keep your eye on as she has the team's highest batting average (.422),SLG% (.733), and OB% (.509) and leads the team in hits (19), home runs (4), and RBIs (13)
- #32 Aubrey Reed is another batter to keep your eye on as she is posting a AVG (.406) and has the second most hits (13), also the second best SLG% (.656) and OB% (.474)
- #24 Ellie Price has the lowest ERA (1.45) but a low number of innings pitched (9.2) and she has only posted 3 strikeouts
- Three Rocket pitchers have pitched 23 innings, #16 Makenna Durieux has the lowest ERA (3.96) out the three, #20 Annika Johnson leads the team in strikeouts (17)
- #5 Ava Fitzmaurice is a batter to keep your eye on with a batting average of .353, and leads the team in doubles (3) and has the highest SLG% (.647) and OB% (.389)
- #21 Adriana Romano is a pitcher to look has her ERA is team best 1.56 and second most innings pitched (9.0) with the most strikeouts (7)
- #5 Ava Fitzmaurice seems to be the go to pitcher has she has the most innings pitched (16.0) and has an ERA of 2.63 with the second most strikeouts (6)
