11:15 a.m. Update: Friday's action has returned to a 2 p.m. start as the earliest action could begin with the resumption of the Purdue-Penn State game
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Thursday's Purdue-Penn State game was suspended in the bottom of third inning due to lightning and heavy rain. The game will continue Friday at 2 p.m. ET on day 2 of the West Lafayette pod.
The Nittany Lions led 2-1 with Mike Bolton Jr. ready to lead off the bottom of the third when lightning within 10 miles of Alexander Field forced the umpires to clear the field. Heavy rain later arrived and soaked the natural grass playing surface. With six games scheduled at Alexander this weekend, the decision was made to resume Friday.
