SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - No. 42 Purdue finished 10 over par to capture a runner-up finish in the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate Sunday, its third top-3 finish of the spring.
The Boilermakers shot 9-over 297 over the final 18 on the Outlaw Course to gain a position on the leaderboard after starting the round in third.
No. 44 Kansas (-11) earned the team title while Michigan's Kyle Mueller and Charlie Pilon (-4) claimed co-medalist honors.
Purdue's Brian Carlson (-3) sat atop the individual leaderboard late, but carded a bogey on 1 and double bogey on 3, his final hole, to fall into a four-way tie for fourth.
Jason Hong (+4) finished tied for 19th after an even round. Hong secured five birdies in his final round to rise two positions Sunday.
Jarle Volden (+6) and Cole Bradley (+9) were 21st and 27th as the final team scorers. Joe Weiler's third-round 76 placed him 35th on the leaderboard at 11 over par.
Purdue takes a week off before traveling to Ponte Vedra, Florida, for the John Hayt Invitational hosted by the University of North Florida.
