WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ââ'¬" As the start of the 2016-17 Purdue wrestling season quickly approaches, so does the Boilermakers' annual intrasquad Wrestle-Offs. Starting at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, all 10 weight classes will be contested inside Holloway Gymnasium. Fans will have the opportunity to watch a mix of seasoned Boilermakers as well as underclassmen vying for a spot in the lineup. Wrestle-Offs are free and open to the public.
Six primary starters from last season are among Sunday's competitors, five of which set to compete at the same weight. Redshirt senior and 2016 NCAA qualifier Alex Griffin is the lone change as he bumps up to 157 pounds.
The bout card also features seven additional wrestlers that have made at least one dual start during their career.
Fans will have the opportunity to see the future of Purdue wrestling with three redshirt freshmen and four members of the Boilermakers' sixth-ranked recruiting class in action.
Purdue wrestling will join the Boilermaker football team at the Boiler Bridge Walk on Friday at 5:45 p.m. Wrestlers will be out on the John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge to chat with fans, take pictures and autograph posters.
