Boilermakers Fall To Indiana In Dual Meet

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Purdue track and field teams fell to the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday in the third annual Purdue/Indiana Dual. The men lost by a score of 88-46 while the women fell 97-39 in Gladstone Fieldhouse.

The Purdue men won five events in the dual and the women captured four. For the men, Kyle Campbell tied his personal best in the pole vault for the Boilermakers. The junior cleared a distance of 4.95m (16-02.75) to win the event. Seth Virgil had a personal best performance in capturing the long jump. The junior leapt a distance of 7.24m (23-09.00). Junior Geoff Davis captured the high jump for the Old Gold and Black. He cleared 2.14m (7-00.25) on this third overall jump.

Jakob Engel set an indoor PR for himself by exactly one meter in the shot put. The junior threw a distance of 17.69m (58-00.50) on his final throw of the event. He won the event by more than five meters. Brandon Winters and Mike Willey finished 1-2 in the 60m hurdles. Winters missed his PR by .06 with a time of 8.22 while Willey finished in 8.38. Kevin Griffith had a pretty good Purdue debut as the sophomore transfer finished second in the 800m run with a time of 1:52.31.

On the women's side, redshirt senior Leah Eber had a solid season debut. Eber won the long jump and triple jump with marks of 5.94m (19-06.00) and 12.02m (39.05.25), respectively. Sophomore Taylor Morrison set a meet record in the in the women's 400m dash. Morrison also shattered her personal best by over a second with a time of 56.30. Dani Bunch also set a meet record on Saturday. The sophomore won the weight throw with a distance of 19.46m (63-10.25). That mark was also .4m longer than her best a week ago.

The Boilermakers will compete again on Saturday when they host the 17th annual Gene Edmonds Cup. The meet is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. ET.
