Round One Results Get Acrobat Reader

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The sixth-ranked Boilermakers got off to a slow start at the 2011 Mason Rudolph Fall Preview, firing a 313 in the opening round in Franklin, Tenn.

No. 2 Southern California holds the lead with a 292 (+4) for the first 18 holes. Eighth-ranked Arizona State is in second place (293, +5), while top-ranked UCLA, No. 3 Alabama and host Vanderbilt are tied for third (296, +8). The Boilermakers are in 18th place.

Justine Lee from Arizona State was the only golfer to record a red number on the first day and leads the field with a 71. Seven golfers are tied for second with even-par 72s.

Purdue was led by junior Paula Reto and freshman Aurora Kan on Friday. Each fired a 77 on the first day and are tied for 50th with two rounds to go. Junior Kishi Sinha, who sat out last year, recorded a 79 in the first round and is tied for 66th.

Junior Laura Gonzalez-Escallon turned in an 80 and is tied for 75th place. As a sophomore, the La Hulpe, Belgium, native averaged 72.6 strokes per round and recorded only one 80 the entire season. Jam Vilairatana turned in an 82 and is tied for 84th in her first competition as a Boilermaker.

The Mason Rudolph is being held at the Vanderbilt Legends North Course, the site of the 2012 NCAA Championships to be held May 22 to 25. The course is set up as a par-72, 6,426-yard layout for the 54-hole tournament that runs through Sunday.
