Purdue softball head coach Magali Frezzotti announced the hiring of Colleen Schmit as the program’s new Supervisor of Operations in October of 2026.
Schmit is a familiar face on the Purdue campus after having served as an academic advisor for the university since 2025. During her time in academics, Schmit helped the Hospitality and Tourism management students with degree planning, career strategy and provided support for her advisees and their families.
Prior to her time at Purdue, Schmit spent a year as the athletic recruiting liaison for Aurora University where she managed the full recruiting pipeline across multiple sports. Schmit served as the primary admissions advisor for all athletic recruits while keeping tracking of more than 300 potential prospects, designing campus visits, organizing financial aid packages and communicating offers.
Schmit also served as the Assistant to the Associate Director of Athletics during her time as a softball student-athlete at Benedictine University (2021-23). She helped coordinate day-to-day operations as well as planned and executed multi-team competitions and tournaments, and served as the contact point for cross-departmental correspondence while balancing a rigorous course load and athletics schedule.
