UNC has gotten the best of us in the previous years; some say they are our arch nemesis. We have played them the past three seasons, losing to them every time. Two of those losses were season ending ones in the NCAA Tournament.
On Monday, March 23rd it was our time to get revenge and end their season. Our team played one of the best games we have played the entire season - we shot 57 percent from the field - and were victorious. The feeling of finally beating them is indescribable.
We had great fan support. Boilermaker fans and players' family members traveled all the way to Chattanooga, Tenn., to support us. Our school president even made the trip down south to come cheer us on. They were a huge part of us winning that game.
After we celebrated the win by singing and dancing it was time to go back to West Lafayette, Ind., to get ready to focus what lies ahead. We are now on our way to the Sweet 16 in Oklahoma City to face up against Vivian Stringer's Scarlet Knights. They are a No. 7 seed who pulled an upset by defeating No. 2 seed Auburn.
The next challenge that we face is to get another win and advance to the Elite Eight. This week's practices will focus on ways for our team to get better and to work on a game plan to try to defeat the Scarlet Knights. This short break is also time for the team to get our studies in order before we have to leave again, this time to Oklahoma City. We can't forget we are students first and athletes second. Our team is excited and ready to play again in our efforts to March to the Arch.
