Davydov Highlights Opening Day of Regionals

MASON, Ohio - Purdue women’s tennis opened competition at the ITA Regional Championships on Thursday, with Gabriella Davydov advancing in the main draw and Jennifer Florea and Kathryn Wilson earning victories in the consolation bracket.

Davydov recorded two straight set-victories, defeating East Tennessee State’s Niyati Kukreti, 7-7, 7-5, before earning a 7-5, 6-2 win over Middle Tennessee State’s Lene Peyer to advance to the round of 16. She remains undefeated at this stage in the tournament.

In the consolation bracket, Florea earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while Wilson advanced by a walkover.

Up next, the Boilermakers will continue competition tomorrow. Davydov continues in the main singles draw while Florea and Wilson will continue in the consolation bracket.
