The Boilermakers won 25 events across their two meets last weekend – 10 by the men, 15 by the women – including 20 at the home opener, the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate.
Last year’s two-day meet at Oakland also featured Cincinnati as part of a triple dual. The Boilermakers won a combined 28 events – 13 by the men, 15 by the women – while sweeping the team scoring on both sides. Caitlin Hurley, Lara Phipps, Janis Dzirkalis, Evan Mackesy and Blake Rowe all won a pair of individual events. Dzirkalis and Phipps also contributed to three relay winners. Dylan Burau, Nathaniel Thomas and Hurley also helped the Boilermakers win multiple relays.
Another highlights at last year’s meet in Rochester, Michigan, included Biko Hooper-Haviland eclipsing the men’s freshman record in the 200 butterfly for the first time. He went on to lower the mark multiple times and eventually take down the overall team record as well. Max Miller (1-meter diving) and the women’s 400 free relay team also set pool records at the Oakland Aquatic Center.
Purdue earned four Big Ten weekly honors after the meet, including Phipps and Rowe sweeping Swimmer of the Week. On the men’s side, Miller was the Diver of the Week and Hooper-Haviland the freshman of the week.
