Purdue Brings Home the Golden Boot in 5-0 Victory

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – No. 22 Purdue took down rival Indiana, 5-0, to bring the Golden Boot back to West Lafayette.

The Boilermakers moved to 13-2-2 overall and 7-2-1 in Big Ten play, clinching its spot in the Big Ten Tournament for the first time since 2021. The Boilers now have 60 goals on the season, which moves the squad into sole possession of second place in the Purdue record book.

The Boilers opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with Irene Campo heading it in on the assist from Cherry Yu. Just four minutes later, Jaiden Anderson scored her 15th goal of the season, just one away from tying Purdue’s all-time single-season record.

With less than 10 minutes left in the first 45, Purdue scored its third goal of the half, a brace for Campo, on an assist from Tanna Schornstein.

Purdue continued to put the hammer down right after the break as Megan Santa Cruz scored a banger to take the 4-0 lead. But it was Anderson in the 74th minute with the goal of the night to tie Sarah Griffith’s single-season goals record with her 16th, making it 5-0 with just over 15 minutes to play.

Grace Miller played all 90 minutes in goal for Purdue and made one save.

The Boilers will take on Northwestern on Sunday, Oct. 25 to close out the road-conference season for Purdue.
