TOLEDO, Ohio – The Purdue men’s golf team faltered over the last seven holes during round two of the Inverness Intercollegiate held at the renowned Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
The Boilermakers dropped six spots into 11th with a 36-hole total of 24-over par 592 (293-299). Iowa continues to lead at 4-over par 572, but its lead dwindled to one shot over Auburn and two shots over Texas Tech.
Purdue is nine shots out of sixth place behind Loyola Marymount and Ohio State at 15-over par. Vanderbilt is eighth at 18-over par, while Tennessee is ninth at 19-over par. Toledo (+19), Purdue (+24), Clemson (+25), LSU (+27), Michigan (+29) and Wake Forest (+31) round out the top 15.
Purdue was in sixth place until the final seven holes did in the Boilermakers. Purdue’s five-person team played the last seven holes in a combined 16-over par to drop off the pace. Purdue had 15 bogeys, one double-bogey and one birdie during that stretch.
Sam Easterbrook continues to play well for the Boilermakers, sitting in a tie for fifth at even-par 142 (71-73).
Micah Sheffer, Supapon Amornchaichan and Will Harvey are tied for 56th at 8-over par 150. Jenson Forrester is tied for 66th at 10-over par 153.
Purdue will tee off the final round from 9:40 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. ET off hole 1, while paired with Clemson and Toledo.
