Brown Paces Purdue to Begin Boilermaker Classic

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.Samantha Brown carded rounds of 71 (-1) and 74 (+2) to lead Purdue Women’s Golf on the first day of the Boilermaker Classic, the opening day of the 2026-27 season. As a team, the Boilermakers (+21) find themselves in sixth place heading into Tuesday’s final round.

Miami (FL) holds a three-shot lead over Ole Miss (+3) after finishing the first 36 holes even par. The Hurricanes’ Barbora Bujakova sits atop the leaderboard alongside North Florida’s Kaitlyn Shroeder at 4-under.

Purdue made 28 birdies throughout the day and went 2-over on the par 3s, ranking third among the field in both categories. Brown played the short holes 2-under to lead the field after a pair of birdies in the opening round. The junior used four birdies to card a 71 in the morning, the Boilermakers’ best round of the day. Adding a 74 in the afternoon, Brown (+1) is tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard.

Lauren Timpf began her junior campaign with an even-par 72 before battling back for a 75 (+3) in the afternoon. She made 10 birdies through the first 36 holes to top the field. With four birdies over her last five holes of the day, Timpf finished strong with a 3-under 33 on the back nine. Timpf (+3) sits in 15th place with one round to play.

One of the newest Boilermakers, Oakland transfer Olivia Hemmila, birdied her first hole for the Old Gold and Black. With birdies on three par 4s in the opening round, the senior carded a 74 (+2) before recording a 79 (+7) on her second 18. Hemmila is tied at 9-over alongside teammate Ashley Kim.

Purdue looks to climb the leaderboard during Tuesday’s final round. The Boilermakers tee off alongside Mississippi State (+16) and Indiana (+18) at 9 a.m. ET.
