WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue erupted for six first-half goals and added another after the break to cruise past Purdue Fort Wayne, 7–1, Sunday afternoon at Folk Field.
The Boilermakers six goals in the first 45 minutes tied the program-record for most first-half goals (Aug. 20, 2023 vs Iona).
The Boilermakers scored five times in a span of just eight minutes during the opening 20 minutes, racing out to a 5–0 advantage before adding another goal to lead 6-0 at the half. Purdue finished with a 31–4 advantage in shots and put 15 attempts on frame.
McKenzie Carle opened the scoring in the first minute, finding the back of the net just 40 seconds into the contest. The goal was Purdue’s third fastest goal in history.
Jaiden Anderson followed with goals in the 18th and 21st minutes, while Tanna Schornstein and Megan Santa Cruz each added goals to give the Boilers a 5–0 advantage before the midway point of the opening half.
Purdue continued to apply pressure late in the first half. Cherry Yu scored in the 45th minute to push the lead to six, giving the Boilermakers six goals on 18 first-half shots.
Purdue Fort Wayne broke through in the 64th minute when Kailey Hansen scored to make it 6–1.
Purdue answered just over 15 minutes later when Carle scored her second goal of the afternoon in the 80th minute, assisted by Kate Noel and Katrina Chong, to cap the scoring at 7–1.
Carle led the Boilers with two goals, while Anderson also recorded a brace. Santa Cruz, Schornstein and Yu each added a goal in the victory.
Purdue's seven goals came from five different players as the Boilers continued their strong offensive showing at Folk Field.
Purdue will take on Chicago State on Aug. 20 for the Boiler Gold Rush match.
