WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue women’s basketball head coach Katie Gearlds has welcomed Devin Johnson-Reed to the program as the new Director of Operations.
Johnson-Reed arrives in West Lafayette with more than a decade in the coaching ranks, including stops at Memphis and Wright State.
Johnson-Reed has recently served as the women’s director of operations for the HBCU All-Stars, coordinating and scouting for the annual HBCU All-Star Game.
Prior to her work with the HBCU All Stars, Johnson-Reed spent two seasons at Memphis as the director of operations, overseeing the day-to-day management of the program. The Tigers finished second in The American in 2022-23 and reached the WNIT Super 16.
Johnson-Reed moved to Memphis after two seasons at Wright State as the team’s video coordinator. Her responsibilities included handling all film duties, monitoring academics, preparing scouting reports and assisting with all operations and administrative tasks including compliance and recruiting paperwork and film.
The Raiders went 38-20 in her two seasons in Dayton, Ohio, winning the Horizon League regular season and tournament championships in 2020-21 to reach the NCAA Tournament.
She spent the 2012-13 season at Colorado Northwestern and was at Moberly Community College in 2014-15.
The Indianapolis native played high school basketball at powerhouse Lawrence North, where she recorded 52 points in a single game. Her college career included stops at Valparaiso University, Cowley Community College and concluded at the University of Texas-Pan American. During her time at Valpo, she played in the first NCAA Tournament game in school history.
Johnson-Reed earned an associate’s degree in arts and humanities in 2004 and a bachelor's degree in communications in 2007.
