WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue women’s basketball head coach Katie Gearlds has signed guard Kyndall Hunter to the roster ahead of the 2026-27 season. Hunter played last season at Houston, finishing second on the team in scoring.
Hunter will arrive in West Lafayette with a wealth of experience after playing 76 games over three full seasons at Houston, Texas A&M and Texas. The Houston native has averaged 6.1 points per game throughout her career.
Last year at Houston, Hunter played in 29 games with 16 starts, averaging a career-high 9.2 points per game to finish second on the team in scoring. She finished in double figures 13 times with five 20-point performances. She hit a game-winning 3-pointer against Cincinnati to cap a season-high 23-point night against the Bearcats.
Prior to joining Houston, Hunter spent two years at Texas A&M, playing one. In 2024-25, she played in 26 games with one start and tallied 5.2 points per game. She led the team in free throw percentage with an 88.2% clip and hit double figures three times.
She redshirted the 2023-24 season at Texas A&M and 2022-23 campaign at Texas.
As a freshman for the Longhorns in 2021-22, Hunter played in 21 games to post 3.0 points over 8.1 minutes per game. She was third on the team with a 38.9% 3-point clip. Hunter posted her career high of 27 points with seven 3-pointers against New Orleans as a rookie.
Hunter was a McDonald’s All-American in 2021 and ranked the No. 24 recruit in the country by ESPNW/HoopGurlz. She averaged 18.9 points and 2.7 assists per game on 42% shooting behind the arc for Cypress Creek High School, leading the team to the 6A runner-up finish at state. Hunter finished her prep career with 2,840 points, 426 assists, 323 3-pointers and 426 steals.
