WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women’s basketball team signed forward Averi Aaron out of the transfer portal, head coach Katie Gearlds announced. Aaron, a 6-1 forward, played the first two years of her career at Louisiana Tech.
Aaron helped the Lady Techsters go 26-7 last season, clinch the CUSA regular season title with a 17-1 record and earn an automatic bid to the WBIT.
Aaron played in 33 games last season with 16 starts, averaging 6.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists over 18.4 minutes per game. She shot 43.8% from the field and connected on 16 3-pointers at a 35% clip. She reached double figures nine times with a career-high 21 points at Liberty.
As a freshman, Aaron played in 28 games, missing the first six to injury, to tally 6.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per night. She shot 44.3% from the floor and 38.5% from distance on 15 triples.
For her career, Aaron has appeared in 61 games with 16 starts, recording 6.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game, adding nearly a block per night.
Aaron was a four-time all-district, all-region and all-state honoree at Boerne High School, going 128-17 in her career. She was a district newcomer and offensive MVP her freshman season, co-district MVP as a sophomore and defensive MVP as a junior. She reached the state title game as a freshman and junior in 2021 and 2023.
