CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– The No. 61 Purdue women’s tennis squad fell at Illinois, 1-4 on Saturday afternoon. Despite the team’s loss, sophomore Kathryn Wilson picked up a 6-2, 7-5 win in singles play.
With the result, Purdue drops to 6-6 (2-2 Big Ten) while Illinois improves to 7-7 (3-1 Big Ten).
The Boilermakers fought hard, seeing Kayal Gownder, Kathryn Wilson and Emmi Kolyszko taking the first set on their courts, 7-5, 6-2, 6-3, respectively. Meanwhile in doubles, the partnership of Ece Gencer and Ida Clement picked up a win, 6-4 as the first court to finish.
Purdue will continue its road swing in Illinois, traveling to Evanston tomorrow for a match at Northwestern beginning at 4 p.m. ET.
