WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Track & Field is set for its final competitions of the indoor regular season Feb. 13-14 at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina and Indoor Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee.
Men’s Notes
• Seamus Malaski holds the No. 16 spot nationally in the shot put (19.10m / 62-08.00) and No. 24 spot in the weight throw (21.57m / 70-09.25). He is one of three athletes in the nation to hold a top 25 spot in both events.
• Bode Gilkerson sits No. 16 in the country with a season-best high jump clearance of 2.18m (7-01.75). The jump is tied for the Big Ten lead.
• Samuel Vessat ran the No. 2 time in program history in the 400m (46.50) and moved up to fifth in the Big Ten. He has also split a low-46 as the 4x400m relay anchor leg twice in three races this season.
• Kamryn Harry earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors after he ran 21.36 at the Windy City Invite. The time is Purdue’s fifth fastest by a freshman in the last 20 seasons.
Women’s Notes
• Alexia Smith remains fourth in the Big Ten and 21st nationally in the 400m heading into the regular season finale.
• Zoe Sullivan sits fifth in the Big Ten and 25th in the country in the 60mH (8.19). She has finished top three in all three of the 60mH finals she has participated in this season.
• Britannie Johnson is eighth in the Big Ten in the weight throw (20.75m / 68-01.00) and has climbed the program rankings in three of her four competitions this season.
• Lauren Pegher is coming off the sixth fastest 3000m performance in program history (9:28.32).
