WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women’s tennis team secured a season-opening victory in dominating fashion, downing Butler 7-0.
Purdue won every set played between singles and doubles, featuring freshman Emmi Kolyszko’s first win (6-4,6-2) at the No. 6 position and graduate student Kayal Gownder’s first win as a Boilermaker (6-1, 6-1) at the No. 4 position. Gownder was the first court to finish and was the most dominating performance of the day.
The squad returns to Schwartz Tennis Center tomorrow for a 3 p.m. ET dual against Illinois State. The competition follows the men’s team dual against Cornell at 11 a.m. ET.
