SEASON-OPENER ON DECK
- This season, the Boilermaker team consists of five returners and three newcomers and are led by first year head coach Raquel Atawo and first year assistant coach Runhao (Leo) Hua.
- Class breakdown: two freshman, three sophomores, two seniors, and a graduate student.
- Purdue finished their last season with an 11-9, 5-8 Big Ten record.
- Fatima Gutierrez was victorious in her singles performance vs. Illinois St. last spring with a score of 6-2,6-2, thus playing a role in Purdue taking the first two points in singles.
- 2 pairing of Fatima Gutierrez and Kathryn Wilson resulted in a 6-2 win against the Butler Bulldogs last season.
- The Boilermakers won every set on every court in singles against the Butler Bulldogs in their last encounter on the court.
- Butler was defeated last spring in the Big East Tournament Quarterfinals against St. John’s, with a score of 5-0. This marked the end of their season.
- The Bulldogs opened their fall season by winning 29 of 37 weekend matches. This included 19-6 in singles matches and 10-2 in doubles.
- The Illinois State tennis team fell to UIC in the MVC Championship Semifinals, 4-1, ultimately ending their season.
- Illinois St.’s returning player Silvia Pomarolli was named to the Academic All District Team last spring. She finished the season 10-8 in singles play and 11-7 in doubles.
