WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men’s golf team wraps up its fourth straight week of competition by hosting the Purdue Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Kampen-Cosler Course, starting at 8:45 a.m. ET. 

The Boilermakers will be playing their fourth straight week after competing in the Olympia Fields Invitational, the Windon Memorial Classic and the Fighting Irish Classic. After this week, Purdue will close out its fall portion of the schedule on Oct. 25 and 26, in Loxley, Alabama. 

It marks the third-of-four straight weeks with tournaments for the Boilermakers, who have competed at the loaded Olympia Fields Invitational and the Windon Memorial Classic. Following this week, Purdue will host its own tournament on Oct. 13 and 14, and then conclude the fall season on Oct. 25 and 26 in Loxley, Alabama. 

The Boilermakers bounced back last week against a strong field in South Bend, finishing fifth place at the Fighting Irish Classic. The Boilermakers defeated strong teams in Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Georgia Southern and Little Rock en route to their fifth-place finish. 

This week’s field includes many local teams, including four other teams from the state of Indiana (Butler, Ball State, Purdue Fort Wayne, Valparaiso).

TEAM NOTES
• Purdue continues to avoid the big numbers on its counting team. Purdue’s top six players have accounted for just 13 double-bogeys in 1,188 holes played. Two of the five players (Supapon Amormchaichan, Kentaro Nanayama) have yet to record a double-bogey or worse through the first four tournaments (216 holes played).
• In the opener, The Boilermakers’ score of 49-under par 815 was the second-lowest, 54-hole score in school history. It featured a second-round tally of 24-under par 264, the lowest 18-hole score in school history.
• Purdue has shot 280 or better in all three rounds in a tournament seven times in school history. Three of the occurrences have come under head coach Andrew Sapp

Andre Zhu (R-Fr. / Richmond Hill, Ontario)
... Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week (Sept. 4) following a T-3 showing at the Island Resort Intercollegiate, in his first career event (68-65-68=201; -15).
... All 12 of his rounds have been 75 or lower.
... The 201 in the opener was the third-lowest, 54-hole score in Purdue history, and the lowest by five shots by a freshman.
... Became the fourth player in school history to have three rounds of 68 or better (Herman Sekne, Cole Bradley, Pariya Junhasavasdikul).

Kentaro Nanayama (Sr. / Jakarta, Indonesia)
... Totaled a 6-under par 210 (69-71-70) to finish T-23 at the Island Resort Intercollegiate.
... Seven of his 12 rounds this season have been even- or under-par; 12 of his last 21 rounds dating to last year have been even- or under-par.

Jenson Forrester (Jr. / Wolverhampton, England)

... Inserted into the starting lineup at Notre Dame and finished T-23 at 4-over par 214, his second straight top-25 showing at Notre Dame.

PREVIOUSLY AT THE PURDUE FALL INVITATIONAL
The Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex has hosted the Purdue Fall Invitational for each of the last four seasons, starting in 2021. Purdue is aiming for just its second victory in the event, winning in 2023 at Ackerman-Allen Course. The 2021 event (2nd), 2022 tournament (3rd) and 2024 tournament (4th) have been held at Kampen-Cosler. In 2021, Herman Sekne won medalist honors at 11-under par, the lowest score in relation to par in tournament history.

THE COURSE
The Kampen-Cosler Course, a Pete Dye design, is an 18-hole, links-style, par-72 championship golf course featuring large bent-grass greens, fairways and tees. The layout presents a challenge for golfers of all abilities with vast sand bunkers, native grasslands, ponds and a natural celery bog. Kampen offers five sets of tees with the championship tees playing over 7,400 yards and the forward tees playing at 5,300 yards.
 
Kampen-Cosler is rated one of the top collegiate courses in the nation and has been awarded 4.5 stars on Golf Digest’s “Places to Play.” Kampen receives high marks as it is ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses in Indiana.
