AURORA, Ontario – In a tournament shortened to 36 holes due to heavy storms on the first day, sophomore Lauren Timpf led Purdue Women’s Golf to an eighth-place finish at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational (Sept. 22-23). The Macomb, Michigan, native played two rounds at Beacon Hall Golf Club even par, adding a 73 (+1) Tuesday after pacing the Boilermakers with a 71 (-1) on Monday.

Purdue (+29) moved up one spot during the final round, leapfrogging Michigan State (+29) and finishing ahead of another Big Ten foe in Rutgers (+39).

Timpf placed in a tie for 13th on the individual leaderboard to secure her third Top 15 performance in as many tournaments this season. She ranked third in the field in par-4 scoring (-1). A triple bogey at the par-4 fifth, her 17th hole of the final round, prevented Timpf from pacing the field in par-4 scoring and securing another under-par round. Following a birdie on No. 9, Timpf fired a 4-under 32 on the back that included three straight birdies on holes 11-13. Not making a bogey on that side, Timpf birdied the 18th to record her lowest nine-hole score of the season.

Freshman Luana Valero tied for 23rd (+3), the best finish as a Boilermaker in her young career. The Medellin, Colombia, native matched Timpf for Purdue’s lowest final round, carding a 1-over 73 that featured four birdies.

Ashley Kim and Ella Weber both shot 77 (+5) to contribute to the team’s final round tally. Kim got off to a strong start, playing her first seven holes bogey free which included a birdie at the par-5 12th. Returning to her home country, Weber was making her first appearance in the Purdue lineup. She also started fast, 1-under through her first five holes.

Closing out a busy first month of the season, Purdue returns to the Windy City Collegiate Classic (Sept. 29-30).
