WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's basketball team held its first official practice on Wednesday afternoon at Cardinal Court in Mackey Arena.
Head coach Katie Gearlds met with the media ahead of the first practice to discuss the progress the team made through the summer workout session. The Boilermakers have nine players in their first year of the program, but six of those arrived in West Lafayette with previous collegiate experience.
Purdue wlecomed back four returners, including fifth-year senior Madison Layden, while the freshman class features 6-foo-7 Avery Gordon and international guard Hila Karsh.
The Boilermakers open the 2025-26 campaign at Mackey Arena against Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 3.
