ROSEMONT, Ill. – Swimmers Abby Marcukaitis and Alex Hotta as well as divers Daryn Wright and Max Miller have been selected to represent Purdue Swimming & Diving on the Big Ten preseason watch lists.
The conference office introduced the preseason watch lists for swimming & diving prior to last season. All programs are invited to highlight one swimmer and one diver of each gender.
The Boilermakers are opening their seasons this season with a rare September meet. Purdue will be represented by men’s and women’s swimmers at the University of Michigan’s Team Be Better Invitational for the second year in a row. This year the meet is set for a Friday afternoon in Ann Arbor. A dozen of Purdue’s men’s swimmers will also travel to Tallahassee this weekend for the two-day Seminole Fall Classic. Sessions are set for Friday evening and Saturday morning at Florida State’s Morcom Aquatics Center, an outdoor facility.
The Purdue Divers will make their season debut at the home opener, the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate. The annual in-state showcase is set for Saturday, Oct. 11 at noon.
Purdue’s selections for the preseason watch lists are headlined by Wright, an Olympian on 10-meter for Team USA and the program record holder in platform diving. The two-time Big Ten medalist returned to the World Aquatics Championships with USA Diving this past summer.
Marcukaitis eclipsed the program record in the 200 backstroke last season. She also ranks third in team history in the 100 back and has scored in both events at the Big Ten Championships each of the last two seasons.
Miller is a two-time NCAA Championships qualifier, scoring in both springboard events at the national championship meet last season. He went on to represent USA Diving at the World University Games in July, winning bronze in mixed 3-meter synchro with North Carolina’s Ellie Joyce.
Hotta is a versatile newcomer, with the senior transferring in from the University of Virginia over the summer. The Tokyo native raced in the 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke at the 2025 ACC Championships and was a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll honoree. This summer he raced with Boilermaker Aquatics at the Indy Summer Cup and USA Swimming Futures Championships.
Full previews for the season-opening weekend will be posted on Thursday.
