WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Baseball's final midweek home date doubles as the frontend of a home-and-home set with Ball State as the Cardinals become the second 30-win team to visit Alexander Field this season.
Tuesday's first pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET. The Boilermakers return the trip next week, visiting Muncie on May 13 for the first time since March 2019, which was also the last year Purdue played an in-season home and home vs. Ball State.
The Boilermakers are 6-3 in midweek action this season and has 3-2 record vs. Mid-American Conference teams. All four of Purdue's games this week are against in-state rivals, including a trip to Bloomington for a weekend series with the Hoosiers. The Boilers are 4-1 vs. teams from the state of Indiana this season, the lone defeat coming in 10 innings vs. Indiana State.
Purdue went 3-1 last week while holding the lead for 30 of the 36 innings vs. Notre Dame and Northwestern. The starting pitching led the way, with Carter Doorn, Cole Van Assen and Easton Storey posting a combined 2.05 ERA and .208 batting average against over 22 innings. The Boilermakers did not commit an error defensively until the top of the eighth of the rubber game vs. Northwestern, a miscue that ended a streak of 65 consecutive innings without an error.
