WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis team (7-3, 1-2 Big Ten) returns home to Schwartz Tennis Center this weekend with a pair of matches. First, the team will host Rutgers on Friday at 1 p.m. ET, followed by Maryland on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis team (7-3, 1-2 Big Ten) returns home to Schwartz Tennis Center this weekend with a pair of matches. First, the team will host Rutgers on Friday at 1 p.m. ET, followed by Maryland on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET.
THINGS TO KNOW:
- The Boilermakers enter the weekend undefeated on their home courts, owning a 7-0 record in West Lafayette this season.
- Despite a hard-fought battle which saw three singles courts force a third set and a close doubles showing, No. 65 Purdue women's tennis fell at No. 34 Penn State, 0-4.
- The Boilermakers were within sight of winning the doubles point with Purdue's No. 2 and No. 3 pairs forcing extras. With Purdue's No. 86 ranked doubles pair of Carmen Gallardo Guevara and Tara Katarina Milic falling 3-6, Purdue's No. 2 duo of Fatima Gutierrez and Kathryn Wilson tied their match, 5-5 and No. 3's Ida Clement and Ashlie Wilson also forcing a tiebreaker.
- Three singles courts forced a Set 3, with No. 1 Gallardo Guevara (Set 1 6-1 win), No. 2 Ida Clement (Set 2 6-3 win) and No. 3 Fatima Gutierrez (Set 2 6-4 win). Gutierrez nearly had the opening frame, falling in Set 1 extras, 5-7 before she came back for Set 2.
- Senior Tara Katarina Milic will be working to maintain her flawless 5-0 singles record against Rutgers, a streak that began in the spring of 2022.
- The Boilermakers hold a perfect 8-0 record against Rutgers since the series began in 2015. Their last matchup took place on March 1, 2024, with Purdue securing a 4-3 victory in New Brunswick, NJ.
- Rutgers' doubles duo of Mai Nguyen and Naomi Karki secured a 6-3 victory over Washington's No. 85-ranked pair, Alexia Jacobs and Reece Carter, in their Sunday matchup.
- The University of Maryland women's tennis team defeated Oregon 4-1 on Sunday, picking up their first conference win of 2025.
- In singles Maryland's Kallista Liu trailed 0-3 against the Oregon Ducks, then won six straight to take the first set 6-3. Liu then took the second set 6-4 to win the match and push Maryland ahead 2-0 on March 9th.
- The Boilermakers and Terrapins have a closely contested series, with Purdue holding a slight 4-3 edge after claiming a 4-2 victory in their last meeting on March 12, 2013, in West Lafayette.
