LAS VEGAS – Ashley Kozlowski recorded eight birdies over 36 holes Monday, finishing 1-under par to lead Purdue Women's Golf through the opening day of The Show in Las Vegas. The Boilermakers posted matching rounds of 293 (+5) to sit at 10-over and in a tie for sixth place with one round left to play.

In a field that features a trio of Top 25 teams, No. 3 UCLA holds the clubhouse lead at 2-under. SMU (-1) is one shot back as the only other team under par, while No. 23 Pepperdine (+2) rounds out the Top 3 on the leaderboard. The Boilermakers find themselves only three strokes behind No. 24 Virginia (+7), as the Cavaliers are in fourth.

As a team, Purdue made 25 birdies throughout the day to rank third in the field. The Boilermakers also ranked third in par-5 scoring (-5), but a few big numbers prevented the Old Gold and Black from fighting for the lead.

Kozlowski's eight birdies were the third-most in the 77-player field. Following an opening round 73 (+1), the senior fired a 2-under 70 for Purdue's lowest round of the day. Bouncing back from a bogey to start her second round, Kozlowski birdied four of her next nine holes to move to 3-under on her round. After a pair of bogeys down the stretch, she finished with her fifth birdie of the round by taking advantage of the par-5 11th. The birdie got Kozlowski back into red figures and up to eighth on the individual leaderboard.

At 1-over par, Momo Sugiyama is tied for 15th after the first two rounds. The Australian paced Purdue in the first round with a 1-under 71. She played the final 13 holes of her opening round bogey free with a pair of birdies along the way. Two double bogeys prevented Sugiyama from recording another under-par round, and she had to settle for a 74 (+2) in the afternoon. Once again, she finished strong by going 1-under through her final 14 holes of the day.

After a rough start, Natasha Kiel settled in to contribute to the team scores for both rounds. Tied for 30th at 5-over, the Boilermaker played her last 28 holes 1-under par to recover from six bogeys in her first eight holes of the tournament. Kiel ended the first round by going bogey free and 2-under through her final 10 holes to post a 76 (+4). Improving in the afternoon, she shaved three strokes off her game to card a 73 (+1).

Making her season debut in the Purdue lineup, Jade Gu got off to a good start with a 73 (+1), more than two shots below her stroke average. The junior found herself 2-under through the first six holes to lead the Boilermakers early in the tournament. A difficult afternoon resulted in a 78 (+6), dropping her into a tie for 42nd at 7-over.

The Boilermakers look to finish The Show strong, returning to Spanish Trail Country Club Tuesday morning. Purdue joins the other 12 teams for a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. PT (11 a.m. ET), paired with No. 24 Virginia and TCU.
