OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. The Purdue men's golf team struggled late in the round, slipping down the leaderboard at the Olympia Fields Invitational.
 
Purdue owns a 36-hole total of 13-over par 573 after rounds of 286 and 287. Purdue entered round two in an eighth-place logjam, but couldn't finish its round on a high note and fell off the pace.
 
Purdue enters round tie tied for 11th with Pepperdine and Stanford. The Boilermakers are just five shots out of seventh place and seven shots out of sixth.
 
Similar to round one, Purdue struggled during the final three holes of the round – which are playing the most difficult at Olympia Fields. In Friday's first round, Purdue's counting team was 4-over par on holes 16 through 18. In Saturday's second round, Purdue was 6-over par on holes 7 through 9.
 
Herman Sekne continues to lead Purdue after shooting a 1-over par 71 for a 36-hole total of 1-under par 139 (68-71).
 
Nels Surtani recorded a 3-over par 73 for a 36-hole total of 3-over par 143 (70-73). Sam Easterbrook had his best round of his young career with a 1-under par 69, good for a two-day total of 7-over par 147 (78-69).
 
Nick Dentino is at 8-over par 148 (73-75), while Luke Prall is at 9-over par 149 (75-74).
 
The final round of the Olympia Fields Invitational will be Sunday morning.
