CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A trio of Purdue golfers were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team. Jade Gu, Ashley Kozlowski and Momo Sugiyama earned the recognition for their performances on the course and in the classroom throughout the 2022-23 academic year.

To be selected to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and play in 50 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year through the team's conference championship.

Along with earning Second Team All-Big Ten honors for her play this season, her first as a Boilermaker, Sugiyama recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA as a psychological science major. Leading Purdue on and off the course, she finished the 2022-23 campaign with team bests in stroke average (73.31), team-low rounds (14), rounds in the 60 (6) and Top 5 finishes (3). Her six rounds in the 60s matched a single-season school record, and she fired a 2-under 142 (73-69) at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic for the second-best 36-hole total in program history. Sugiyama also placed fourth at the Windy City Collegiate Classic. Tying for fifth on the individual leaderboard, she helped the Boilermakers capture the team title at the Tulane Classic to begin the spring.

Kozlowski is no stranger to academic accolades, becoming a WGCA All-American Scholar for the second time in her career. An aeronautical and astronautical engineering major off the course, Kozlowski posted a 73.75 stroke average over 32 rounds (11 tournaments) to rank second on the team. Thirteen of those rounds were par-or-better, a team best, which included a season-low 68. She tallied three Top 10 finishes, highlighted by a runner-up performance at the Tulane Classic to earn Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors and help Purdue win its first tournament since 2018. Kozlowski ended the year by pacing the Boilermakers at the NCAA Raleigh Regional, tying for fourth with a season-low 213 (-3) over the 54-hole postseason tournament.

As a redshirt-freshman, Gu played in eight of Purdue's 12 tournaments. The computer science major cracked the lineup five times, including at the Big Ten Championship, while participating in three tournaments as an individual. Gu recorded a 76.54 stroke average, and her best performance came at the season-opening Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. With a 3-over 216 (73-71-72), she tied for 26th on the individual leaderboard.

The three Boilermakers led the team academically, all becoming Big Ten Distinguished Scholars with grade point averages (GPA) of at least 3.70 over the past academic year. They were also named Academic All-Big Ten. With a cumulative GPA of 3.68 during the spring, the team posted the best semester GPA in program history.
