WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue baseball players remain active on the field thanks to the opportunities provided by collegiate wood bat summer leagues, with returning Boilermakers slated to play for leagues all across the eastern half of the country.
Many leagues begin their schedules during the final week of May or first weekend of June. That includes the local teams in north central Indiana – the Lafayette Aviators (May 31 opener in the Prospect League) and Kokomo Jackrabbits (May 29 opener in the Northwoods League).
After being recognized as the Prospect League's 2022 Roland Hemond Pro Prospect of the Year following a dominant month of June for the Danville Dans, All-Big Ten starting pitcher Khal Stephen is slated to pitch in the renowned Cape Cod League this summer. He'll become the first Boilermaker to pitch on the Cape since Bo Hofstra and Matt Moore helped the Cotuit Kettleers win the league title in 2019.
