RALEIGH, N.C. – The Purdue track & field team earned one personal-best time as two runners raced on the third and final day of the Raleigh Relays on Saturday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Junior Payne Turney and sophomore Emma Squires ran in the 800-meter event at Paul Derr Track on Saturday, one day after they competed in the 1,500m.
Squires notched a personal-record time of 2:13.73 to finish 71st overall in the 800m. She was just behind Turney, who was 70th in 2:13.69. The Boilermaker duo were two of more than 120 runners to race in the event.
On Thursday, Purdue began the three-day Raleigh Relays with one runner in the 3,000m steeplechase and four in the 5,000m.
Up next, the Boilermakers are on to a trio of meets next weekend. Purdue travels to the Texas Relays from March 29-April 1 in Austin, Texas, and the Bobcat Invitational from March 30-April 1 in San Marcos, Texas, along with the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational from March 31-April 1 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
