WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue swimming & diving teams open their home schedules with another weekend of consecutive days of competition, hosting UIndy for traditional dual meet Friday and teams from around the state for the annual Indiana Intercollegiates showcase Saturday.
Action is set for Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at noon. Admission is free for all meets at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center this season. Fans planning to attend Saturday should be aware of the road closures related to the Purdue Half Marathon and 5K races that morning. Accessing the Burke Aquatic Center and Co-Rec parking lots from the east via Martin Jischke Drive is advised.
UIndy is among the top Division II programs in the nation. In the first edition of the CSCAA Top 25 DII dual meet rankings, the Greyhounds are ranked No. 1 on the men's side and No. 3 on the women's. At the 2022 NCAA DII Championships, the women finished second and the men third.
Former Purdue men's assistant coach J. Agnew (2008-18) and Purdue alumna Deb Thompson (1980-83) both return to campus this week. Agnew is in his fifth season as the head coach at Ball State. Thompson helped start the men's and women's programs at Bethel in time for the 2019-20 school year and has served as a professor at Bethel.
Ball State and Bethel are among the eight visiting teams from around the state set to compete alongside the Boilermakers on Saturday. The Indiana Intercollegiates meet was launched in the fall of 2001 during Purdue's inaugural season at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center and has been held every October except 2020. It annually serves as the largest single-day home meet of the season for the Boilermakers.
The Purdue men are once again planning to create their relay pairings via academic class. They also traditionally challenge themselves by competing in at least one off event.
