MEDINAH, Ill. – Purdue Women's Golf nearly set a new school record in the second round of the Illini Invitational Monday afternoon (Oct. 10). The Boilermakers fired an 11-under 277 at Medinah Country Club, the second-lowest round in school history and just two strokes off the program record.

Danielle du Toit and Momo Sugiyama led Purdue with rounds in the 60s. Du Toit matched her career low with a 67 (-5), while Sugiyama carded a 68 (-4) to tie her best round of the year. Adding even par rounds in the morning, both Boilermakers cracked the top 25 of the leaderboard.

As a team, Purdue sits in tie for ninth at 10-under (289-277—566). The Boilermakers are tied with Tennessee and ahead of five other teams that include No. 19 Oklahoma State (-7), while sitting 15 shots back of No. 13 San Jose State (-25).

Du Toit and Sugiyama played similar first rounds, using three birdies to counter three bogeys to shoot even par. In the afternoon, the two Boilermakers hopped on the birdie train. Du Toi found herself 2-over through seven holes before she caught fire with back-to-back birdies to get back to level par at the halfway point. She added three more birdies on the front nine to fire a 32 (-4), heading to the back for her final three holes of the day. Du Toit kept the putter hot with two more birdies to conclude her round of 67. The South African birdied seven of her final 11 holes of the day, moving to 5-under and sitting in 17th on the individual leaderboard.

A birdie to begin her second round was a strong start for Sugiyama. The sophomore made five birdies throughout the afternoon, recording just one bogey on her way to a 68 (-4). It marked Sugiyama's third round in the 60s this season, while tying her lowest round as a Boilermaker.

Ashley Kozlowski ended her day the same way she started, even par. Back-to-back rounds of 72 featured seven birdies over 36 holes. Jocelyn Bruch joined her teammate at even par with rounds of 74 and 70. In the afternoon, Bruch played her final 10 holes bogey free, adding a pair of birdies along the way to secure a 2-under par round. Jade Gu shot 73 for both of her rounds, highlighted by an eagle during her opening 18.

Purdue wraps up play at Medinah Tuesday morning, beginning at 10 a.m. ET. Paired with Oklahoma State and Oregon State, the Boilermakers tee off on holes 10-13 as part of the shotgun start.
